Each and every Seishun is different. However, each falls into on of the following nine categories. Take note on the fact that these are just average estimates. Usually they are sorted for their type of attack. (Ex: A fire-breathing seishun will be classified as a Netsu)
* = Rare seishuns
Hikari (Light)
Kurai (Dark)
Kaze (Air)
Shio (Tide)
*Kodai (Ancient)
*Nazo (Arcane)
Seikatsu (Life)
Eteru (Aether)
*Netsu (Fire)
* = Rare seishuns
Hikari (Light)
These creatures are usually classified as such because of their calm attitude, and 'bright' outlook towards humans and other seishun. Most of the time, they are visually similar to small mammals such as cats, mice, and bats. Most of these creatures will have the ability to illuminate themselves for both defense and a way to see in the dark.
Kurai (Dark)
Nearly the opposite attitude as light creatures. Instead of happy and easy-going, most are distant with others, and antisocial. Many tend to look like small reptilian creatures, but grown to a size to reach most peoples' kneecaps. Because of their tendency to stray from others, they are uncommon to be found bonded with a human. Unlike their opposites (Hikari) these seishun can make themselves invisible to the naked eye and disappear into the environment using camouflage.
Kaze (Air)
Due to their ability to fly, Kaze seihun are classified as such. Most of them are prideful creatures who love to preen themselves, which may be because they're similar to birds in a way. Sometimes there's a Kaze seishun that looks similar to a Chinese dragon. It may have no wings, but it can easily fly against the strongest of winds. There are some rare exceptions to cause a non-flying seishun to be sorted here though; such as a seishun that has the ability to control the wind.
Shio (Tide)
Shio, otherwise known as Tide seishun, are capable of breathing underwater, and/or controlling it. Seishun sorted here are always similar to (semi-)aquatic creatures in some way or another. However, there have been few cases of land-based seishun sorted here for their abilities. When someone has one of these seishun it is imperative to keep their skin soaked in water. They may be able to control water long enough to survive on land for a short while, but there must be another way to supply them the water they need to live. The personality of Shio seishun is one of the most diverse, much like humans' personalities.
*Kodai (Ancient)
As their category states, these seishun have been around for centuries, possibly even millennia. Most have been hiding away from the present world because their kin have died out and see no reason to go on. But there are the few seishun who wander the wild searching for a purpose. These creatures are rare to find only because of their small numbers. Their shapes and sizes vary, but most will edge towards the larger side. Most are from when the world was in it's prehistoric times, so most resemble animals around dinosaurs, but there are also those who may look like giant cats as well. Usually, these seishin do not have a special ability, save for their massive size.
*Nazo (Arcane)
Nazo seishun are the only ones who can communicate with telepathy. Sometimes there's the rare occurrence of one of another category with the same ability, but each Nazo will have telepathy. In most cases, these creatures are larger than an average human. Their forms differ from one another, and could be almost anything. Even though they have telepathy, they tend to shy away from humans. The reason for this is unknown however.
Seikatsu (Life)
These are some of the most common seishun to find. Most will look like insects, or arachnids, except instead of being only a few inches long, their sizes are closer to the size of an average cat. These creatures are classified for their ability to heal those who are injured. They are usually selfless and caring because of these abilities also. However, most people don't enjoy having the company of a large bug or spider so having one bonded to someone is a rare occurrence.
Eteru (Aether)
The Eteru seishun are closely related to Kaze seishun. Not by their looks, but by their abilities. They can't control air, but they can control lightning and/or travel at lightning speed. They don't necessarily fly, but most have ability to maintain flight for a short while. Most are visually alike to large canines, such as wolves, but have a few 'extra' additions. They are known to have multiple limbs or body parts. For example, some may have six legs, or maybe four eyes, and possibly even two heads. These creatures are usually arrogant and cocky of their strength, and are hard to bond with because of this.
*Netsu (Fire)
Most would think the Netsu category would be as simple as the name, but it's exactly the opposite. Netsu seishun may all have the ability to breath fire, but other than that, there is not much known about them. They are the rarest to find, let alone bonded with someone because of the fact they build their nests inside or near volcanoes. Those who have happened to see one have said that their skin looks as though it was fire. Every sighting of one includes a giant set of wings, but the form of the body differs. Sometimes its a phoenix-like bird, and other times it's a winged, flaming horse. The very lucky few who bond with one have told how quiet they are, and how they are stoic about nearly everything.
